8 Weeks in two days! :)

Paul's theme song - especially in the past couple of weeks - would most definitely be Billy Joel's "I Go to Extremes". I've noticed patterns in the way he is - he'll have a couple really calm days, and then the storm will come and he'll have a day where he totally blows it all out (in more ways than one!) Yesterday was one of those days - instead of having a couple of fussy hours, it was practically the WHOLE day. I FINALLY got him down for a nap late yesterday afternoon (it took me to lay down with him and nurse for a few minutes, but it worked!) - ofcourse, that was when my friend Michele from the Asheboro area came to see me for the first time since he'd been born. So he woke up later, but was back in cranky mode. It was good to see her though!
Today is another story - he slept from about 11:30 to 4:30, woke up for a feeding, and then slept until 9:oo! He's taking another nap now, a few hours later. When he has these types of days, he still has his fussy times in the evenings but they haven't been lasting as long, and they're not as intense. I've learned to just take it as it comes, because just when you think you've got it all figured out, it's back to square one! A friend told me about a book called "The Happiest Baby on the Block" that deals with these fussy times - apparently after doing a little research, it has helped a LOT of people, so I figured it was worth the investment.
We had a nice Father's Day - above is the Willow Creek New Dad figurine I got for Adam. The pictures of Paul below are him on his little floor gym - RIGHT before he projectile spit up! He seems to be focusing on things better, and is still constantly looking around. He loves the outdoors - we try to take a walk every night around 8:30ish. He used to get sleepy and would be OUT by the time I reached the end of the driveway; now he's awake the whole time and even if he's going through his "fussy time" he's calm and looking all around.
A friend of mine referred a chiropractor to me that works with newborns/infants. I had never heard of this - but it does make sense that even babies need adjustments - they've been through A LOT in the birthing process, and we carry them all around in all these different positions - sometimes in not very comfortable ways! So I've scheduled an appointment for July - I've heard that getting an adjustment can greatly help the colic and reduce some of the stress that they're feeling. So I'll be interested in seeing how it works out.

Sounds like it's never a dull moment at the Belvan house! :-)
That's one thing that kids bring to a family... it's never dull anymore and each day is never the same as the one before. I am SO READY to see him again! Don't be surprised if you hear from me next week while I'm on my vacation! You'll probably get a visit from me sometime in there! Love the figurine! Give PD a big kiss for me! I really think you've got the hang of this mommy thing... you sound a lot more confident, and I think realize that you just have to "go with the flow" and they'll do just fine, no matter what we do!
