Well I may have the medical field coming after me, but I have found that putting him on his side or stomach helps him to sleep better. He's growing out of his fussy times - he still has them, but they've started later and don't last as long as they used to. And he doesn't have them every night, so that's another good thing. He's also getting more sleep during the day, which probably helps at night. I can hardly wait for him to start really responding to people and for his personality to start coming out. Not that he doesn't have any right now - his facial expressions pretty much say it all! - and we've started communicating by sticking out our tongues at each other. When he's in a really good mood he will make noises like he's trying to talk to you. It's so cute! :)
Today I tried an experiment and attempted to put him in his crib while he was still awake. I have a little jungle thingy that you attach to the edge of the crib that plays music and makes soothing noises with lights, and I played that for a little bit and got him good and sleepy. I laid him in there when he was calm, but still awake. And he went to sleep! Yaay! Ofcourse, it was for only 10 minutes, but it was still a small success. I think it was also close to feeding time, so I'll keep trying at least once a day to have him take a nap in the crib. (He's still sleeping in the bassinet at night beside the bed....or with me to begin with! During the day he's been napping in the Pack n' Play bassinet we have in the living room.)
Had my 6 weeks checkup...all looks well as far as I'm concerned. Adam and I would like to have another child, so it looks like we might try again in a year. We'll see!
(PS As I was writing this Adam tried it again with putting him back in the crib, and he fell back to sleep. Yaay!)
