25 Weeks

I had another ultrasound today, but this time the only thing they concentrated on was the heart. Mom went with me this time. It was kind of cool - for once, instead of an examining table with stirrups, I actually got to lay on a bed! :) I've noticed that I get a little sore with all the pressing down on my belly, but it's just one of those things I've learned I have to endure while they're doing this. The lady explained that she didn't do any talking during the ultrasound, because she's so concentrated on getting all the details she can on the heart. So, while she was doing this, I just watched - most of the time very confused at what I was looking at! But I could tell that he is laying on his belly, and could see his spine when she would zoom out before going back in for closer examinations. It was very fascinating! If I could have a career change, I think that's something I would like to do! :)

Anyway, after about 15 minutes, she went to talk to the doctor, and then they both came back to talk to me about what they saw. Thankfully, there was nothing to indicate that there were any serious heart defects, or any signs of holes in the heart, or any further signs of Down's Syndrome. They didn't completely rule it out, but it was encouraging to know that there weren't any problems and that his heart was developing as it should.

My next doctor's appointment will be January 26th with my regular doctor, and then the following week I'll be going for my followup ultrasound with Duke Perinatal....THEN on the 5th I'll be going in for the 4D ultrasound. That's when we'll get the DVD. Wow...I guess I'm 6 months now....only three more to go. Too much to do....

woohoo!! I'm the first to leave a comment rather than the last for a change! I'm so glad you can keep all your appts straight for us--this baby is going to be thinking its a celebrity or something, with all the picture taking...!! I'm really interested in seeing the 4D "movie"... Hard to believe you're 6 months along. My pregnancy went by so quickly. I know you enjoyed the extra day home today with the snow...one less day with those little angels at school!
