5 Months!

Well, as you've probably noticed, I've been very busy with school and getting back into the schedule of things since I last wrote - hard to believe that it's been a month! I am just totally amazed at how much he is growing and developing - seems like he changes so much everyday.
Today I took him for a follow-up to last month's appt - they wanted to see him again to see how his neck strength is developing. It's getting better, but he's still not quite there, yet - the doctor said that he's probably a month behind, but he's not overly concerned. If he was, he would be recommending physical therapy, but Paul is able to lift up his head a little better. Still not able to use his arms to support his weight, though....so he recommended yet MORE tummy time for him. A minimum of 3 hours a day....so basically if he's not sleeping or eating, he should be on his tummy. Which sounds somewhat reasonable - but he does get tired of that position after a while. At least when I see him at the end of the day - hopefully daycare will follow through with it. I know the grandmas will. :)
Today was a milestone of sorts - he's been eating rice cereal for about a month pretty much once a day, and I've been letting him adjust to that. He really seems to want it now, so I decided to go ahead and start giving him "real food"....as you can see above, his first food was carrots! Yummmm!!! He loooved it - smacked his lips and made these little cooing sounds. The doctor suggested that I first breastfeed, then give him a little cereal and top it off with the food, so that's what I did. He didn't eat a WHOLE lot but it was enough for me to see that he likes it a lot, and to take some cute pictures of his orange face. :) So now I guess we're hitting the food stage - it will be interesting to see what he likes as I introduce him to different foods. I think I may go with something green next, and hold off on the sweet potatoes....any suggestions??

Glad things are going well and the doctors are fairly pleased with his progress. I have a feeling that now that he is becoming more curious and aware of his surroundings mentally, that he'll be more active physically and will gain the strength in his arms and neck as he reaches for things, etc. It's hard to believe I haven't seen him for a month! It's been way too long! -- I loved the pictures on facebook, by the way! See you soon!
