2nd Month checkup

Well, we survived the shots - he had to have 4. One wasn't bad at all - it was liquid and he drank that, and loved it. Why can't they ALL be like that?? He cried a little for the others, but not for very long. I fed him before I left the doctor's and he came back and was ready for a nap, which is where he is now.

He now is weighing in at 10lbs, 4ozs, and is 22.75 inches long. He will go back for his 4 month appointment at the end of August. DREADING that appointment, because that will mean I'm back in school! Booooo!!!

He had a bath last night and loved it - did not cry once! I filled the water up a little more than usual and I think he liked that. I guess one of my concerns at this point is that he's not really smiling or laughing right now - at least not on purpose. He'll have some half and full smiles while he's sleeping but I'm not seeing it when we talk to him or play with him. I guess that's just another milestone that they attach to a month to make mothers all the more anxious!

I figured I'd combine the comments for both blogs into one--. That book sounds like it has really been helpful. I'm not surprised that Paul settled down with a "less than perfect" blanket, etc. He seemed pretty laid back when he was born, so it stands to reason he won't be very picky with any of the attempts. For all of his fussiness, he really isn't a high maintenance baby (as far as babies go). It's just figuring out what works and what doesn't. Shawn started smiling about 3 months. We had gotten some pictures taken at Olan Mills around 3 months old and it was shortly after that that Shawn started smiling. Remember when Kai would giggle when he was little? Shawn would do something and he would just break out into those wonderful giggles. Can't wait for Paul Daniel to do that! Looking forward to seeing you guys at mom and dad's on Saturday! I'm in "baby withdrawal" and I need my PD fix!!

Yeah, Beth, you're bringing back some great memories. I think Kai's first big guffaw laughs was when Shawn would do something silly! I have a feeling that Kai might do the same for Paul Daniel! I also can't wait for Saturday --- not sure yet what (if anything) I'll do Friday.....will Gloria be visiting you in Goldsboro on Friday?
