PAUL DANIEL BELVAN

I guess there's something to these dreams that you have the week before an ultrasound - I dreamed we were going to have a boy, and sure enough, the technician pointed out the applicable anatomy which looked like a stream of light from my vantage point! They checked everything - the heart, kidneys, brain, length of limbs.....it was a pretty incredible experience to see every little detail of little Paul Daniel. :) Beth and Adam were there to witness the event.
The doctor then came in and mentioned some concern about the length of his arms and legs - how they seem to be about 2 weeks behind in development. This could be a sign of Down's Syndrome, although they didn't see any other signs from the facial features or other physical characteristics that are common in a Down's baby at this time ....or it could be a sign of dwarfism....or it just could mean that we might have a short child....OR it could mean that they have the due date wrong. There's really no telling this early in the game, and although I was somewhat concerned, the more I've talked to others who have been through this test, the better I feel. I go back on Christmas Eve for another Level 2 ultrasound. I do know that I am NOT going to have an amniocentesis....unless there's a risk to the baby or to me. My next doctor's appointment is Monday, and I will be able to discuss more of my concerns with them at this time.
I'm finally getting over my second headcold of the season - we bought a humidifier which seems to help a lot at night. Otherwise, I'm feeling pretty good at the moment....a lot has been going on with my dad being in the hospital over Thanksgiving (he came home Friday), and so it has been pretty crazy. My goal the rest of this weekend is to get a lot of rest and to grade some papers and do lesson plans for next week. Shopping will just have to wait! :)

I get to be the first to comment...woo hoo! No more "gummy bear"... we have a little boy!! Glad you were able to rest some over the weekend, Becky. I pretty much caught every bug that came around when I was pregnant.... so, be prepared!
