16/14 Weeks

I went in on Tuesday to give blood for my AFP test, and my doctor called me yesterday at school with the results. It all sounded very encouraging - he said that while Baby B was still running some risk for Down's Syndrome, cystic fybrosis, spina bifada, and all those wonderful genetic conditions that a pregnant woman my age runs the risk of carrying (he quoted the numbers, which I can't remember what they were...), he said that the risks were within the normal range for someone my age. He still wanted me to get the Level 2 ultrasound on the 24th, which I was planning on getting anyway, but he did not recommend an amniocentesis. Which is good, because Adam and I had already decided that I wasn't going to get one. Today with all the rain, I had a lazy day....watched ugly football games on TV, took a nap, did laundry....it was nice. I was kind of drained, since it was a rough week at school. I'm glad Thanksgiving break is looming soon! :)

BTW, I'm still waiting to feel the baby moving.....everything I've read says that I should be feeling it anytime; ofcourse, I might have already felt it and just thought it was gas or something...? LOL

I am SOOOO upset!!! I kept checking the blog and the last entry that kept showing was 10/22... I figured you hadn't had time to make any new entries. Well, I was talking to mom today and asked her if you had had your appt the end of October and she said yes, that it was on your blog..!!!! I checked it again, and 10/22 was showing as your last entry.... then I hit "home" or something like that and up popped your entries from the last 3 weeks... I have been out of the loop for THREE FRIGGIN WEEKS!!! AGH!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, now I have to comment on everything.... so good to hear that everything is going well! I had to have the RhoGam shot as well (that's the name of it) as Kelly was O+ and I was A-. I'm glad that your energy level is back up. My best time was 3-7 months. I actually felt good the last trimester, just peed a lot and was big. What time is your DR appt up here in Raleigh next Monday? I would love to come to it, if you don't mind!! Depending on the time, maybe we could do lunch or supper??? You'll know when the baby moves, trust me. It is the weirdest feeling, too. The first time Shawn moved he hauled off and kicked me... it was no "flutter". After awhile you look like something from "Alien" when your stomach starts doing the "wave action".... remember that, Laura???

Hi - I'm going to try and leave a comment. I guess that Laura also had to have the shot, because most people are + rather than -. Guess I was fortunate that both Dad and I were -. Guess you got a little of both of us - he's B- and I'm A-. Glad we'll see you both on Thanksgiving. Mom

Yep! Probably GAS!

Yes, feeling the baby move definitely did not feel like gas. Kai loves hearing me talk about it -- I tell him that I'd push on a certain area of my stomach & I could swear that he would push right back where my hand was. And I'm quite sure I could also tell when he'd have the hiccups!
After he was born that was the thing I missed most of all -- feeling him move inside me (sounds weird but was actually pretty depressing - I remember my first post-natal appointment -- I was just about crying!)
Yes, I'm B negative (like Dad) & also (like Beth) had to marry an O positive guy (and even worse, he's a Republican!....but that's another story.)
But I digress.......Keep us posted ..I can't wait until we can see that Level 2 (or whatever!?) ultrasound!!

I felt the same way Laura did after she had Kai, when I had Shawn, that the thing I missed most was feeling Shawn move and kick and hiccup. He did that a lot towards the end -- my whole stomach would shake. Those were the days... right Laura?
