15 Months!

It's been a great summer spending time with family and especially watching the changes that have occurred with Paul. As you can see above, we took our first trip to the beach this month - it was the first time I'd been to the beach since before Adam and I got married! At first he was a little hesitant about water and the way it was moving towards him so fast, but after awhile we got some cute segments of him on the video camera giggling in the water. That is one thing I have learned about him this summer - he LOOOOVES water - whether it's taking a bath, going to the pool or playing with his sippy cup and letting the juice or milk drip out and splashing in it on his high chair!! This past week was the last of the swimming lessons, and I will miss that 30 minutes or so with him in the pool - he was getting to where he was moving his arms more and dipping his face into the water. He also loves to sit on the wall and jump into my arms. Needless to say, we'll probably be doing the swimming lessons every summer!

Yesterday (August 5) was a milestone for Paul - he took his first official steps!! I think jumping off the side of the pool into my arms helped give him the courage to take those steps to me - he actually took 5 or 6 steps before falling. He's slowly but surely getting better. I took him on Monday for his 15 month appointment. He is now 30 lbs, 10ozs!! They wrote on his take-home paper that he is 50 inches, but I DON'T THINK SO!! He's tall, but not that tall!!! We measured him with the yardstick at home and I think we came up with something like 37 inches....

Well, the summer is very quickly winding down, and I'm TRYING to get my mindset into the positive. And trying to prepare Paul for the changes that are about to come about. He'll be going to daycare Monday-Thursday and spending Fridays with Mom. I think that will be a blessing in disguise, not having somewhere different to go everyday. He is getting to that age where he really needs a schedule and consistency. Only about 12 more days until the madness begins, and so I'm using this time to visit with friends and family. Lianne, Ryan, and Annie came to visit us this week, and it was nice to catch up and have Paul meet another of his aunts. :) We're also going to be working even more on the walking - I would like him to be more confident before he goes to daycare!!

Wow!!! Paul is changing so fast! I love the video from the beach and the picture with Lianne is really good. Maybe they measured Paul when he was stretched out :-) When Adam was holding him at Milton's (the Italian restaurant) he sure looked like he was half as tall as Adam... that would be about 50 inches, right???? Can't wait to see you guys in a few weeks for Sistahood! One last "summer fling"!
