Today I went in for Paul's 6 month checkup and all I can say is WOW, he has grown! As of today, he weighs 19lbs 9ozs and is 27 and 1/2 inches! His two bottom teeth have come in, and he is a drooling machine. My left shoulder has become accustomed to constant drenching from either slobber or spit-up....as well as my hair. I joke that it is my new conditioner. :) It really doesn't bother me, because I realize how fast he's growing and I know that there will come a time when I will miss these days, so I'm enjoying them as much as possible now.
I had to take him to the doctor on the 11th because the cough he had for the last week or so seemed to be getting worse, and it felt like he had some fluid in his lungs. The doctor said that he had the beginnings of an ear infection, so we've been taking amoxicillin, which he absolutely loves. The pharmacist adds flavors to the medicines upon request, so we added cherry. I didn't realize that I could have added banana flavoring. Oh well, I'll keep it in mind next time. ha ha. He is doing better as of today - just a lot of issues with his nose running, which makes it very hard for him at night, but we have the humidifier going and that seems to help. Today he had 5 immunizations (2 on both legs and one orally)....one of them was the H1N1 Vaccination. He got half of it today and I'm supposed to call in a month to see if the second part is available for him to take. With all the poking and prodding today, I think he's pretty worn out. I think he's running a little fever, so hopefully some tylenol will help with that.
We'll be starting on stage 2 foods this weekend once the stage 1s are used up. It's so much fun watching him try new things, and he is so funny eating the fruit, esp bananas! He loves those so much - he'll smack his lips, and I dread it when we get to the bottom because he does not like to end meal time, even though he could (and should be) stuffed to the gills! I find myself scraping the container/bowl to get every little bit I can on the spoon! The foods in the stage 2 have some combos and meats, so it will be fun feeding him those. :)
On a very sad note, I found out today as I was running errands that one of the students at my school (4th or 5th grade) was hit by a car this morning. He ran out in front of a car, and there was nothing that the driver could do. He died this afternoon. It just makes you stop and think how precious and fragile life is, and it makes you hold on to what you have all that much tighter. I didn't know Dakota, but from everything I have heard, he was popular among his classmates and loved to play sports. It's going to be a very hard holiday season for his family and friends, and my prayers go out to them.

That is a great picture, Becky! He is growing up so fast! That is so sad about that student. You're right, it really does make you realize how things can change in an instant. Looking forward to seeing you at mom & dad's on Thanksgiving!
