2 1/2 months - First real smile today 7/20

The past couple of weeks have been busy ones - hard to believe we're already almost at the end of July! Last week I got a taste of what it will be like in the fall when school starts back with 4 days of workshops, and survived it, so I think I'll make it when school starts back. Until then, I will just treasure every single moment I have with Paul, since he will only be this age once.
I've started putting him in the crib at night now, and once during the day for a nap. Sometimes I'll put him in the bassinet in our room if I see he's having "one of those nights" where he just doesn't want to settle, and it's amazing how small the bassinet looks now when he's in it! We've noticed that he's "chunking up" quite a bit lately...he's outgrowing his newborn clothes and feeling heavier when we pick him up.
Today was a special day - I had him laying on a pillow on my lap so that he's facing me, and he began smiling and reacting to the little things I would do: "peek-a-boo", tickling, laughing and singing....he did this for a good 1/2 hour. He would smile a little bit before, but it was not reacting to anything he observed. Those little toothless grins are just so sweet - nothing compares to it! :)

You'll begin to see a lot of changes now. It won't be long before he'll be babbling and running around. If I remember correctly, (it's been a LONG time) with Shawn, once he hit the 3-month-old mark he really took off! Remember when he "played" the piano at mom and dad's, and would do the "Indian woowoo"? That was so funny! It seems like it was just yesterday, not almost 21 years ago! If that is any indication how Paul will be, well... we will surely be entertained!
