35 Weeks

What a busy two weeks it has been! Since I wrote last, I have had two baby showers, two prenatal classes (one on all the different medicines they can use during labor, and C-Sections) a doctor's appointment, and a mental list that seems a mile wide of things that I need to do to get ready for Paul Daniel. I am SO looking forward to Spring Break in the next two weeks where I can get going on this list and indulge my wanna-be nesting phase. :) The showers I have had were so much fun - I especially enjoyed Saturday's shower because it gave me the opportunity to see friends that I rarely get to see, plus we got to see Shawn (nephew) in a hilarious play that evening to round out the fun day.

I had my doctor's appt yesterday - I'll now be going every week. I am dilated!! To a 1, but I'm dilated! Yaay! I had the nurse practitioner again - she did my exam and said that the baby is head down - still high up in my abdomen. She took a look at my feet - the swelling is back and it's back with a vengeance on both feet now. My right foot is the most painful, and it hurts a lot when I get up in the morning. She said that everything else still really looks good - blood pressure is normal. I have gained 5 pounds since my last visit 2 weeks ago. They may have to pull me out of work, though, if the swelling doesn't improve after Spring Break. That was what I was hoping for, anyway, to work until Easter vacation. So we'll see. Meanwhile, I'm trying to stay off my feet as much as possible, and to top all of this off, I have to be observed by my principal next Monday. Oh boy!!

The movements in my belly have been very active pretty much all day long.....he likes to bunch up in a ball on my left side and then it gets hard to be breathe. I've learned how to gently prod him to move his little self over a little bit and he's been very nice about switching positions for mommy. Let's hope he's this cooperative when he comes out. Well, I better get back to bed - I woke up at about 1:30 with a craving for some corn pops, and thought I should write in here since it's been 2 weeks, and the discussion on my last post was deteriorating (ha ha)!!!

First of all, thank you so much for saving me.
Secondly, I think this was my favorite post! (Except for the part about you dilating 1 cm.....I'm telling you, you better not have Paul Daniel while I am at Disneyworld!!! That is a promise....I mean,a threat!!---like you have any choice in the matter, right?! But that's just a foreshadowing of your life over the next years...not as many choices....oh, it's looking gloomy (NOT!) - I'm sure you've been told already a million times that your life is about to change in more ways than you can imagine. You'll need to let us know when that "magic" period happens when you can't remember even NOT having him. I don't think it takes very long to get there.
I'll be looking forward to more posts from you - but please don't wait 2 weeks (or even 1) between your posts......things are going to start moving very quickly pretty soon!

Yeah, you DEFINITELY saved Laura! She's right, things will start to move VERY quickly now (yep... it's downhill from now on!) I figured Laura would comment on the 1-cm dilation part. I know you added that JUST FOR HER. It's ironic... you're getting ready to go from a two-some to a three-some and Kelly and I are in the stage where we will soon go from a three-some to a two-some. How strange is that??? I was thinking not long ago about that. Shawn is gone quite a bit, especially with play practice and being with his friends, that it's just us two. In the next year or so he will probably be moving out, either to go to school at UNC Wilmington, or to get a full-time job probably down that way. In any case, his time left with us is limited. The time really does fly. It seems like only yesterday Kai was born and Shawn was 12. It's kinda weird/cool that we're all at different stages with our kids. I think it was day 2 where I couldn't remember not having Shawn around. It was pretty quick! Again, I second Laura.... don't take so long now to post an entry... things are going to start moving right along!!

Maybe I can come over your spring break and help you on some of the things you need to get done before Paul Daniel decides to come. It won't matter if it doesn't get done though - you'll soon learn that some things are more important than others - and the things you thought just HAD to be done can wait. Nothing is more important than bringing that precious baby into the world. - Right! Love, Mom

Maybe Good Friday when I'm off I can come down and help you some, too. I can see if I can fit the rocking chair in the car (I think I can). Let me know if that works for you-- maybe I can persuade Shawn to come, too. Let me know what you think! (I think I hear some Italian food calling my name....)
